Lotus Flower Lamp

I aimed to design a flower that catches the eye, drawing attention with its unique position and petal shape, allowing interesting interactions with the light from a bulb. My goal was to wrap the light in a way that tames the harshness of the bulb's glow, imbuing it with a softer quality to create a warm, soothing ambiance. Using Solidworks, I challenged myself to craft a Lotus design as organic and free-form as possible - pushing the software beyond its traditional bounds for product design, which often features more rigid shapes lacking in nature's irregularity. This lampshade was engineered to snugly fit over a 20mm light fixture, allowing you to easily scale the lotus shape using your slicing software to accommodate different size fittings.
