Lothlorien Brooch
thingiverse
I created these elven brooches inspired by the ones in the Lord of the Rings movies, given to the Fellowship when they left Lothlorien. Depending on size and added features, it could be used for many purposes. I attached a magnetic sheet to the back of one to turn it into a magnet. The original intention was as a handle for a window pull in my treehouse project. The latest version was designed for corrections and use in my son's Legolas costume. I'm including a file containing the entire object, as well as the two parts separated for printing with multiple filaments. I've printed both with and without supports, and it turned out fine. Your printer settings might make all the difference. When it comes to infill, it depends on how sturdy you want it to be. I did 100% infill to create a solid piece, and it was nice, but I did 50% infill for my son's costume version, and it was perfectly fine. I'm sure lower infill percentages would work as well. I printed in single filament and hand-painted the result afterward. The "green" part is pretty much flat, but when painted and glossy clear-coated, it has plenty of character. Scale as needed - I designed this in Blender, but forgot to set the world scale. In my slicer, I scaled it up and it works perfectly. Smaller prints are highly likely to miss out on the thinner veins running on the leaf. I did a print at 2.5 inches and they show well. My final costume print was 3 inches.
