lost wax casting flask sprue base
thingiverse
I've been gradually building the equipment required for lost wax casting. I'm currently working on a 4in flask and decided to proceed with creating the rubber sprue base, designed specifically for a 4in O.D. flask. However, this design can be scaled up or down to accommodate any dimension. As expected, it was printed in Ninja Flex material. I opted for three perimeters, two layers at the top and bottom, with a 25% infill setting. Looking back, I should have used three layers at the top and bottom for optimal results, but the outcome is still satisfactory despite some minor imperfections. The extruder experienced a jam on the solid layers in the part's bottom section (visible in the accompanying photos), so I'll either reprint it or apply a black RTV coating to rectify the issue. My flask project remains incomplete as I still need to fabricate and weld on the flange. This serves as a reminder that my design was created without adhering to standard measurements, with the sprue base measuring 15mm in depth. If you're intending to use this design for an existing flask and the flange is less than 15mm from the end, you'll need to adjust the height accordingly to ensure compatibility. Hopefully, this explanation has provided clarity on the matter.
