I create a loopback tool from a null modem mini adapter, 9 pins. First, I open up the adapter by drilling out the holes on one side. Next, I connect pin 2 to pin 3. After that, I close the mini adapter with this case. Finally, I use a hot air soldering gun to melt the end of the pin and push it flat to secure the end plate.
