Look ARC Cleat Rendering. Very Close to original - Printed, but untested on bike with shoes. NO warranty, Use At Your Own Risk ! If you print this and bolt it to your shoe(s), let me know how it behaves, BUT Be Careful if you decide to use it for a ride, this is a Use At Your Own Risk design!!! This new rendering is completely original and done from scratch, not based on the model or the "original" version done over a year ago. The original rubber friction pad fits perfectly in this new model. I wish I knew where to buy just the rubber pad by itself... This model, like the prior version, is "at your own risk and its safety and fit can vary on the choice of materials, slicing settings, make/model or your pedals, and printing technology." NOTES: a- Cycling itself can be a very dangerous sport. Use of clipless pedals, shoes, and cleats has become common but can result in additional risks posed when getting "clicked in" to your pedals, or twisting out of pedals to stop or dismount. b- Common failures of clipless pedal systems have resulted in riders falling and becoming injured or killed. c- It's safe to say that everyone who has used clipless pedal system has fallen due to failure to "clip in" as desired, or failure to twist out from forgetting, or debris in a cleat and pedal increasing the required forces to dismount. Clipless use has also resulted in unwanted release that poses an obvious danger. d- The actual printing of this cleat makes the person doing so responsible for its use through printing technique and material(s) chosen that can affect strength and scaling (size) of the final printed part. e- Printing and using this part is most likely an economic decision or one based on a rider's desire to tweak or customize the design to their needs and choices of color or shape. My methods to produce a more accurate model are much more sophisticated this time around, but still imperfect. This is NOT an Actual Look ARC Cleat, but instead my interpretation of such. NO warranty, Use At Your Own Risk ! I am not a lawyer, but recognize the world we live in and while I like to share my creativity, I don't want to get screwed for being a nice guy. *** PLEASE DO NOT USE MY DESIGNS IF YOU CANNOT OWN THE RISK. *** /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// For those interested, here's how I got to a finished model: 1- create an accurate sketch of the side of the cleat and extrude it to be a bit wider than the cleat. 2- establish a front to rear center-line, then create an outline sketch of the cleat as seen when looking at the bottom of a shoe. Use this sketch as a cookie cutter to cut a section of the extrusion from step 1. 3- sketch, and locate all through holes and recess details. Create planes as needed to maintain accuracy and thickness of bolt and pad surfaces. 4- sketch outlines of front and rear pedal mating surfaces for cut-extrude to remove material from under side view extrusion (view from the surface that mates against the shoe's outer sole. 5- fillet and chamfer as needed to provide proper look and feel. The screen shot of the 14 planes I created shows how the design was broken down to create the model. - Enjoy, but be careful !
