Longerak Power Plant is from 1916 and was built by the state to supply a sanatorium with electricity and general power. The power plant was taken over by NVE in 1925, in 1962 Aust-Agder Kraftverk took over operations, and since 2001 Agder Energi has owned the power plant. The building is called the fairy tale castle in the forest and was designed by architect Kristian Hjalmar Biong. The power plant has blending into natural stone and resembles a medieval fortress in miniature form.
