Long Fin Futures Center

Long Fin Futures Center

thingiverse

I wanted a longer fin on my center fin so I decided to try making one using 3D printing technology. I printed two separate pieces and then pressed them together, resulting in a makeshift fin that's far from waterproof, but still a blast to play around with. Since I haven't had the chance to take it for a ride yet, I'm concerned that the fin might be too flexible, which could impact its performance. Perhaps I should have made it slightly thicker so it flexes less. If you get the opportunity to ride with it, please let me know how it performs and if there are any issues. Update: On March 13, 2019, I finally got a chance to hit the waves with my 3D printed fin. To my surprise, I was able to catch a few more waves than usual compared to my trusty old Futures fin. The press-fit design held up reasonably well during the ride, but if you plan on spending all day in the water, it's probably a good idea to add a couple of drops of adhesive for extra security.
