This 3D model was first built using Sketchup 8 before being converted to various other formats. The original format remains .skp, while the scene was later opened in 3ds Max 2016 for further adjustments and then rendered with Vray 3.00 software. Originally based on a London 2012 design, the logo features the same exact look that appears on actual Olympic medals from the 2012 games.
