Lomo Tank Spindle
thingiverse
This is a set of parts designed specifically for the Lomo Processing Tank, available online at Super8camera.com. The tank consists of two distinct components: the top and bottom pieces, which screw together to securely hold spiral reels that keep film in place during processing. Two versions of the bottom spindle piece exist, with one having a longer threaded extension than the other. The original spindles are made from Bakelite, a material prone to breaking if dropped or subjected to excessive force while threading the pieces together. This can result in either purchasing an entire new tank or creating a custom replacement using hardware store parts. These parts were generated using OpenSCAD scripts, with assistance from threads and OpenSCAD Triangles libraries. The design was based on original piece measurements but drew inspiration from Replacement spindle for Lomo 100' 8/16/35mm film processing tank and Modified spindle for Lomo film processing tank designs. Some issues arose during printing, prompting the creation of a top part spindle. Note: Prints of the bottom spindle piece may benefit from flipping horizontally to place outer threading on the print bed and hold the body with supports.
