3D scan of Lomnický peak. This majestic peak in Slovakia's High Tatras is a sight to behold in person! The textures are slightly less detailed due to technical limitations within AR mode. Lomnický Peak stands tall as one of the highest and most frequented mountain peaks in the High Tatras range of Slovakia. Its summit reaches an elevation of 2634 meters above sea level, making it the second-highest peak in the High Tatras after Gerlachovský štít (2654 m). Historically, Lomnický Peak was known as Dedo ("Grandpa"). Before the 19th century, this peak was mistakenly believed to be the highest of all. Since 1940, tourists have been able to access the summit via a cable car system, which was state-of-the-art in Europe at the time of its opening. Climbing the peak from Lomnický Saddle is also an option, but this requires the accompaniment of a certified mountain guide. A solar observatory and weather station are permanently staffed throughout the year at the terminus of the cable car system.
