They are based on an ancient STC discovered by techno-archaeologist Ripply Gygax on the abandon colony of LV-624. It mounts a variety of weapon systems, often in a twin linked configuration. The Lolth-pattern cognator incorporates a bio-scan targeting mode, allowing it to autonomously fire on all non-human entities. In a notable instance during the Kipkean apostasy, a battery of Lolth-pattern sentry guns nearly wiped out an Imperial infantry regiment in what was initially assumed to be a friendly fire incident. Later autopsy revealed the regiment was infiltrated with gene-snacher cultists. Survivors were summarily executed and the Lolth-pattern sentry guns from the incident were embossed with the Imperial Order of the Mutant Hunter, 14th class.
