Overview ------------ Background: My kids and big dog keep pushing the work from their stands, so I've decided to create a wall holder for them. The design is simple, currently allowing only one direction move, but I'm working on a second version that will enable better positioning. A unique aspect of these designs is the use of UNC 14 threads, which are challenging to find in my area, so I print them myself. This has proven effective. Some Tips: When printing UNC screws, it's best to print multiple at once to allow for material cooldown before the next layer. Failing to do so can result in bad warping and an unusable screw. This applies to all threads or requires a good circle fan to cool down layers during print. The recommended printing resolution is variable, with thread resolution set to 0.1-0.12 mm max. Infill is up to you, but UNC screws should be 100% solid (dependent on material). I've printed parts using PLA and found it sufficient, though PETG may be better. I'll use PETG for the next version. edit 1: The UNC screw design has been updated with an inner hole of 3mm diameter to accommodate M3 screws for added solidity. A special nut has also been added for tightening UNC threads onto the holder's body. Testing has confirmed usability with both PLA and PETG materials. If printing multiple PETG screws, ensure mastery of stringification issues.
