Logitech G305 x Steelseries Rival Battery Cover ===================================== This is a battery cover for the G305, which was inspired in shape by my previous mouse the old Steelseries Rival (i think the newer version is now called the Rival 310). This fixed the comfort gripes i had with the stock G305 for me. I designed this specifically because i liked the shape of the Rival so much that i wanted to carry it over to my new mouse the G305, which i found a little lacking in the comfort department out of the box for me. I think it worked out quite well to address the lacking comfort for medium to larger sized hands and people who grip their mouse with a (hybrid) palmgrip. As is the nature of the Rivals design this shape is optimised for right hand mouse users, but if you mirror the model it could also work for lefties, but i have not tested this. This model was created by first scanning the Rival shape with my XBox 360 Kinect using ReconstructMe, cleaning the scan using Meshmixer and MeshLab, improrting the model of this battery cover: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3555601 (so technically this is a remix) and thickening the surface while combining and merging the surfaces. This model is by no means perfect, but it definitely did the job for me. You could call this a work in progress, because i ment to add honeycomb perforation to this part to save weight, but couldn't figure it out using Meshmixer and i'm not a fan of eternal work in progress projects. But if anyone has tips or comments on perforating a STL file your input would be much appreciated. Another thing one could optimise is the lower part of this model because if your print comes out a bit rough the lip could drag on your mousepad. If this happens you should clean the edge up a bit with a knife for example. Maybe thikening this lip towards the bottom would be beneficial. This is the first time i did something like this btw. This whole process took quite a while so i thought i'd share it so you can benefit from it too. While printing it appears that either my printer (a largely unmoddified CR10S) or the Raspberry Pi 1B+ that i run Octoprint on messed up during the print, which resulted in a few missed steps. Another possibility is that i didn't simplify the STL enough and there are too many polygons. This does not hinder the function of the part though and therefore i did not bother to reprint this. Freeing it from the supports was not easy, but worth it in the end.
