Logitech G29/G920 Short Throw Paddle Shifter Mod
thingiverse
What is this? This is a snap-in mod to shorten the distance that the paddle shifters need to move on the Logitech G29 (assuming this fits the G920 too) and does not require any additional parts like nuts/bolts/magnets. It also prints in ~15 minutes and uses only ~1.44m of filament. Why? The paddles have quite a bit of mushy(?) travel before they click. This is easy to live with but some of us want a snappier experience. There are magnetic shifter mods that already provide that experience but they require additional parts, so this mod helps provide something to those of us that don't have the exact magnet sizes or the exact nut and bolt sizes on hand. Maybe a good alternative until you have the parts for a magnetic one, or maybe this is good enough for you to just roll with. How does it work? Two 1.5mm thick tabs tuck in behind each paddle which act as pre-tension to the paddle springs. This results in a reduced travel distance of about 5mm at the fingers which doesn't sound like much but it's a noticeable change. This also holds the part in place. Installation - Orientation is important, the bottom of the print goes towards the paddles. - Flex the ring around the top of the steering column. - Slide the top two tabs into place behind both paddles while pushing the paddles out of the way. - Slide the other tabs into place while pushing each paddle out of the way. - Done! Removal is easily done by scooping a finger on one end of the ring to leverage it out. - If for some reason the mod constantly engages the paddle switches, try push against the paddles to help seat them in. If that doesn't work then possibly try re-printing with a reduced Z scale.
