Logitech C270 Webcam Bracket for FF Creator Pro
prusaprinters

Another bracket for fixing the Logitech C270 webcam on your 3D printer. This is a compact one for the excellent Flash Forge Creator Pro and fits neatly inside your machine at the far left corner. Fits the 2016 to 2019 models, and probably older ones too (so long as they have a steel frame).

I used PLA+ for this print, but normal PLA would work fine, as would ABS. I went for 20% infill, but you could probably get away with less. I printed both as orientated in the files, with supports where required.

It's generally best to assemble Parts A & B and mount the webcam to Part B before mounting the bracket onto the frame of the Creator Pro. In fact, it would be extremely hard to do it any other way!

Removing the end stop (a 30 second job to remove and replace) also makes installation much simpler. You'll need an M3 bolt (about 22mm long) and an M3 nut to fix Part B to Part A (an M3 washer is optional, but does stop the head o the bolt compressing the plastic).

You also need a M3 nut to fix the bracket onto the existing bolt that holds the frame of the printer together. Once installed, the camera sits out the way of the moving axis and, unlike most other Creator Pro designs out there, it doesn't hang outside the machine on a boom arm, so isn't just waiting to get snagged and broken.

The camera is mounted vertically, so the picture will be rotated 90° using default settings, but with software like Octopi, that's no problem as you can easily rotate the image via the setting page. A sample view image from camera is included in the files.

You can move the wee arm and rotate the camera to adjust the composition, and it's recommended that you follow one of many focus hack guides, so you can tweak the focus and get it nice and sharp.

You don't get the entire bed in shot, but unless you're after full width images for film or time-lapses, this neat solution give you more than enough of a vantage point to keep an eye on your print remotely.

There's even a wee slot built into Part A to allow you to fix a small zip tie there to keep the cable out of the way and stop any tugs on it from moving the camera out of alignment.

EXTRAS: 1 x M3 bolt (~22mm length) and 2 x M3 nut.

CREDITS: Part B is based on part of a bracket made by someone else on Thingiverse. I can't remember which design right now, but once I've tracked it down again, I'll add the details to this listing.

Print instructions

Printer brand:
FlashForge

Printer:
Creator Pro

Rafts:
Doesn't Matter

Supports:
Yes

Resolution:
0.2mm

Infill:
20% or Thereby (Honeycomb)
