I picked up a Logitech C270 webcam but realized it wasn't designed to mount on a 3D printer, so I decided to get creative. It's intended for mounting on a monitor or laptop, not my printer, so I broke it down into its components and worked on a custom design. The project was time-consuming, but it allowed me to experiment with various styles and link lengths. Even though I only used one design, I thought it would be helpful to others who might be interested in similar modifications. Here's how I put it together: Take apart the camera body and separate the circuit board. Next, attach the new body with the same two screws that held the last mount. Glue the back on firmly to ensure a solid bond. For the screws holding the links, use #60-32 fasteners available at your local hardware store. Don't forget to get nylon insert lock nuts; I skipped this step and had issues adjusting them - definitely on my list for the next visit. If you're making one, just focus on creating a mount with a solid back piece. The extended links provide extra flexibility but aren't necessary - in reality, a simple mount is all you need along with the new body and back panel. To enhance durability, I'm thinking of redesigning the back to include screw slots for added support. To print my custom design, I used black PLA filament with settings optimized for quality: 0.4mm nozzle width and 0.2mm layer height, providing an impressive finish for such a delicate project.
