Logic Probe

Logic Probe

I created a custom container for my logic probe when our electronics club built one using the CD4001 IC, and I deliberately avoided using a pipe as a container. The circuit design came from https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/projects/diy-tools-build-your-own-logic-probe/. I chose to use a Vero board for the circuit board because it's easy to make at home. I designed the Vero board layout in "Do It Yourself Layout Creator". To enhance visibility, I added a white LED with a switch on the front of the probe. This allows me to use the light as an indicator if the area around the circuit board is too dark. Before assembling everything, I trimmed the LED's legs so that they protrude about 3mm above the IC. I then made sure the overall height was still smaller than the container inside. Once the board was placed inside the container and the LEDs were pressed into their holes, I used a wedge to keep it in place.
