Lofts1

Lofts1

I got the concept for this section from an architect who envisioned a structure featuring a smooth curve connecting two offset polygons. This segment utilizes two squares, one of which is displaced and rotated, as control curves for a single Loft surface. I then created a polar array of four such combinations to generate the final design. The challenging aspect was determining values for the offset X, Y, and Z distances and the rotation angle that enabled the sides of the four loft surfaces to align properly. Lofts2 will incorporate a pentagon instead of a square - and it will be larger! This part took 14 hours and 15 minutes to print using an 80 mm/sec print speed and a 0.200 mm layer height.
