The ultimate GoPro we've all been dreaming of, but never got! May 24th 2020 Update: The Space Chicken 95X is now available! Additionally, a brand new lens cap design has been added to the mix. April 29th 2020 Update: V2 is now live! Now featuring glass and no-glass lens module inserts, shaved off several grams, and easier, cleaner rear cover fitment. This design should be final for a while, and I'm shifting my focus to TPU pod designs. **What's the Story?** Start with a GoPro Hero 6, strip it down to its bare essentials, and stick everything back together in a printed plastic case. The result? Uncompromised GoPro video quality without any extra baggage. And no, this baby doesn't have Hypersmooth either! Have you heard of Reelsteady Go? Google it now, thank me later! **Why Did We Create This?** A factory GoPro Hero 6 weighs in at 116g. Many innovative drone cinematographers are now using fully naked GoPro hardware, weighing in under 20g. This re-cased GoPro is designed to provide a durable, dependable option for quads 2" to 4", splitting the difference between full-naked and full-fat options. It fits snugly like a stock Hero 6, making it easy to swap between quads as needed. Print the LFH6 front and back components from a rigid material, such as ABS. 2. Print the lens insert assembly and optional ND filter mount from TPU. 3. Disassemble a Hero 6 following Rimzler's excellent 17g GoPro guide. 4. Use a heat gun to soften the adhesive holding the lens window glass in its metal frame, then gently pry it free. Work this window into the groove in the TPU lens assembly to protect the lens module and lock the TPU assembly into the camera body. 5. Remove the microphones from the button flex strip using a knife, as they're not needed. 6. Conformal coating and liquid electrical tape will help protect the naked components. Be careful not to get conformal coating in any plug interface or unused LCD ports. 7. You can power your naked H6 using various methods, including the USB PCB module assembly, a tiny ucb-c plug, and a Diatone 5v regulator. 8. The filter mount allows quick-fitting of TBS Jello Guard ND filters to the lens assembly. **Frequently Asked Questions:** * No, it won't fit other GoPro versions. You'll need to get creative or design something new. * Yes, universal pod designs are coming soon! * Yeah, I can make one for you... for the right price! It's a fair chunk of work, but if you've got the dogecoin, I'm happy to build these cameras up!
