Lodovico's birth date remains a mystery, but he opted for a life of military service under the Carraresi family's guidance. Next, he joined the Serenissima army as commander of its ground forces, leading the charge against the Hungarians in Dalmatia with unyielding bravery. He was part of a plot orchestrated by the Carraresi to reclaim the Signoria of Padua, but their plan was exposed and Lodovico paid the ultimate price along with his fellow conspirators in 1435, losing his life by beheading.
