Locking Dovetail Puzzle Box
thingiverse
Update: (A new version of the bottom of the puzzle box now features an expanded space for hiding items inside.) After watching Mr. Puzzles' video on YouTube, I decided to create a money gift box for a friend that seemed impossible at first but turned out to be really fun and easy to print. Currently, it holds a rolled-up bill perfectly, as that was my initial requirement, but soon I'll add an update with a much larger storage compartment. You can still print the puzzle without the locking mechanism or the necessary parts by simply omitting those features. To solve this challenging puzzle, start by placing the bottom of the top layer face up - in my case, it's the red side - and then gently hit it with some force to release the steel ball from its magnetic hold. The ball will then slide smoothly at a 45-degree angle. (WARNING: Be cautious when handling this puzzle as it features sharp edges that can cause cuts.)
