Locking Dock for iPhone 6+ in Griffin Survivor Case

thingiverse

This is a dock for an iPhone 6+ in a Griffin Survivor case. It lets you use headphones and an Apple Lightning adapter while it's docked, making it super convenient. The headphones are mounted on a slide with a toggle lever, so I can quickly disconnect them to pause my music with just one quick action. The dock secures the iPhone in place, and a lever at the back unlocks and then ejects the phone straight out, without damaging the connectors. It's a clever design that keeps everything safe and easy to use. I've had some issues with my Griffin case, though - the rubber covers on the Lightning and headphone jack have broken off from repeated open-close use. I think they would get in the way if they were still there, so it's probably for the best. To be honest, I'm not sure many other people would want a dock like this, since the phone is old and the case usually makes it hard to use one. But the source code is included, so you can modify it or use it as-is if you need to. I used a lot of different materials in this project - 624 bearings, odd lengths of 20mm extrusion, M3, M4, and M5 screws in various sizes. I designed around what I had available in my surplus bins, which is pretty cool. Some of the parts are really big, too, so they might not be printable on a standard 3D printer. But my second printer has a huge build volume and an E3D Volcano nozzle, so I was able to design some parts that take advantage of those features. Here's how I designed this dock: [Video demonstration of the unlock and eject functionality]
