Locking Biscuit Jointed Modular Frame
grabcad
This CubeSat frame, featuring a modular design with four types of components, is created using 520 locking biscuits to join three sections. Benefits include rapid printing on a compact footprint (28.6cm x 13.8cm x 1cm), simultaneous printing of multiple frames, and piecewise printing on small 3D printers (5cm x 5cm x 1cm). The design also reduces warping or twisting issues in large 3D printed parts. However, it has a high part count (568 components for a basic 1U frame) and requires assembly. Constructed using Fused Deposition Modeling with ABS or Nylon as the material, this frame can be customized to create 1U, 2U, or 3U CubeSat configurations, featuring 18 built-in attachment points per aluminum rail.
