Lockheed P-80 simplified cnc/laser
thingiverse
The P-80 was essentially the initial jet fighter from the USAAF. My construction took place on a desktop CNC-machine by Stepcraft using 6 mm beech plywood and a spiral-toothed 1.2 mm flute. The parts were glued together and nicely sanded to create a fantastic toy for kids of various ages. A laser cutter could potentially serve as an alternative tool for crafting smaller versions. Visit https://www.zenziwerken.de/en/Spielsachen/Flugzeugmodelle for more designs. Keep in mind that the obj-file of the model is used solely for validating construction and viewing in the browser. How I Created This I took 3-view drawings of this plane from Wikipedia to save time on tracing, then used Illustrator to carve out its main features. The slots were the result of trial and error. Before building the plane, I conducted a 3D validation in SketchUp. Next, I nested the parts as closely as possible for production on a CNC-router.
