The P-38L Lightning, named Hazel, was part of the 44th Fighter Squadron in the 18th Fighter Group during World War II in the Philippines, contributing significantly to the Pacific Theater in 1945. The model was originally created using cinema4D 9.5 and contains detailed features for close-up renders. Included are bodypaint textures and standard materials. Key features of this scene include a model with 21 textures, two materials, and one alpha map. No cleaning up is required, just drop the models into the scene and start rendering without needing any special plugins. The Phong shading interpolation/smoothing is set at 35°. Separate parts for flying and standing versions are provided. However, in LWO, OBJ, FBX, and 3DS formats, the alpha map for the propeller (Run_Alpha) in the flying version must be manually loaded into the material channel. The model has 137,508 polygons and 109,142 vertices, consisting of 32 objects. Additionally, there are 25 textures, one material, and an alpha map. The OBJ file, LWO file, FBX file, and 2010 File Version are also included. The first major production version was the P-38E with a 20mm cannon instead of the initial 37mm cannon. It was followed by the P-38F with pylon racks for bombs or droppable fuel tanks, the P-38G, P-38H with a more powerful engine, and finally the P-38J with improved cockpit heating, cooling, windscreen, fuel capacity, and maneuverability. The Lightning was instrumental in combat operations from England starting in September 1943 as the only fighter with range to escort bombers into Germany. In the Pacific theater, it was the standard USAAF fighter until the end of WWII, with seven of the top eight USAAF aces flying P-38s. On April 18, 1943, a P-38 ambushed and shot down an aircraft carrying Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the planner of Pearl Harbor and commander of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
