The Lockheed P-38L Lightning, known as 'Glamour Puss II,' was a notable aircraft during WWII, particularly in the Pacific Theater. Originally modeled in cinema4D 9.5, this detailed model is perfect for close-up renders. The zip file contains bodypaint textures and standard materials. Features include an inside scene with a model, 21 textures, two materials, and one alpha map. No cleaning up or special plugins are required to open the scene, which also includes Phong shading interpolation/smoothing at 35°. Separate files provide flying and standing versions of the aircraft. Note that in obj, lwo, and fbx formats, the propeller's alpha map must be manually loaded into the material/opacity canal. The model consists of 137,505 polygons, 109,142 vertices, and 32 objects with 25 textures, one material, and one alpha map. The P-38's first major production version was the E, followed by the F and G models, which improved engine power, range, cooling, cockpit heating, and maneuverability. In the Pacific Theater, seven of the top eight USAAF aces flew the P-38, and on April 18, 1943, a P-38 ambushed and shot down an aircraft carrying Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the planner of the Pearl Harbor raid. The Lightning became the standard USAAF fighter in the Pacific theater until WWII's closing months.
