The Lockheed P-38L Lightning, dubbed "Florida Cracker," served in the 432nd Fighter Squadron (FS) under the 475th Fighter Group during World War II's Pacific Theater in 1945. The model was originally created using cinema4D version 9.5 and is detailed enough for close-up renders. The zip file includes Bodypaint textures and standard materials. Key features include a model with 21 textures, 2 materials, and an alpha map; no need for cleaning up prior to rendering; no special plugin required to open the scene; Phong shading interpolation at 35 degrees; separate parts for flying and standing versions; and compatibility in lwo, obj, 3ds, and c4d formats. The Lightning's first major production version was the P-38E, followed by the F, H, and J models, which introduced various improvements such as better cockpit heating, engine cooling, bulletproof windscreens, additional fuel capacity, and enhanced maneuverability. The P-38's long range made it a crucial fighter in escorting bombers into Germany from England and in the Pacific theater, where it was flown by seven of the top eight USAAF aces. An iconic moment occurred on April 18, 1943, when P-38 pilots used its long range to ambush and shoot down an aircraft carrying Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, a key figure in the Pearl Harbor raid and commander of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The P-38 remained the standard USAAF fighter in the Pacific theater until late WWII.
