The Lockheed P-38L Lightning, dubbed "Beautiful Bitch," was a prominent aircraft in the 96th Fighter Squadron and 82nd Fighter Group during World War II. It was modeled using cinema4D 9.5 and features detailed textures for close-ups. The zip file contains bodypaint textures, standard materials, and a scene with a model, 21 textures, two materials, and one alpha map. No additional cleaning is required; simply drop models into the scene to start rendering. The scene can be opened without special plugins, and it features Phong shading interpolation at 35°. Manual loading of the propellor's alpha map in the material channel is necessary for obj, lwo, and fbx files. The model consists of 137,505 polygons and 109,142 vertices across 32 objects, with 25 textures, one material, and an alpha map in the c4d file. OBJ, LWO, and FBX files are also provided for convenience. The first major production version was the P-38E with a 20mm cannon, followed by the P-38F with pylon racks for bombs or droppable fuel tanks. The P-38H introduced a more powerful engine in May 1943, and the P-38J boasted improved cockpit heating, better cooling, a flat bulletproof windscreen, additional fuel storage, and increased maneuverability. The Lightning excelled in both European and Pacific theaters during WWII, with seven of the top eight USAAF aces in the Pacific flying the P-38. Notably, on April 18, 1943, a P-38 ambushed and shot down an aircraft carrying Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, who planned the Pearl Harbor raid and commanded the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Lightning became the standard USAAF fighter in the Pacific theater until near the end of WWII.
