The Lockheed P-38J Lightning, also known as Arkansas Traveler, was a prominent aircraft in the 392nd Fighter Squadron (FS) of the 367th Fighter Group (FG), operating in the European Theater during 1945. The model has been meticulously created using cinema4D 9.5 and boasts intricate details suitable for close-up renders. Within the zip file, you'll find bodypaint textures and standard materials. This aircraft features: an inside scene with a model, 21 textures, 2 materials, and 1 alphamap; no special plugins are needed to open the scene, and it requires no cleaning up before rendering. The Phong shading interpolation is set at 35°. There are separate parts for flying and standing versions of the aircraft, with a note that in obj, lwo, and fbx files, the propeller's alpha map (Run_Alpha) must be loaded manually into the material or opacity channel. The model consists of 137,504 polygons and 109,142 vertices, distributed across 32 objects. It includes 25 textures, 1 material, and 1 alpha-map in various file formats such as obj, lwo, fbx (version 2010), and c4d. The P-38J version was a significant improvement over its predecessors, offering enhanced cockpit heating, better engine cooling, a flat bulletproof windscreen, additional wing fuel capacity, and increased maneuverability. Its long range capabilities made it the only fighter capable of escorting bombers into Germany during combat operations from England in September 1943. The P-38 shone particularly brightly in the Pacific Theater, with seven out of the top eight USAAF scoring aces flying this aircraft. On April 18, 1943, a P-38 ambushed and shot down an aircraft carrying Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, a key figure in the Pearl Harbor raid. Consequently, the P-38 became the standard USAAF fighter in the Pacific Theater until late World War II.
