Originally developed for the US Navy in the 1960s, the Lockheed P-3 Orion is a four-engine turboprop anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft based on the L-188 Electra commercial airliner; it's recognized by its unique tail stinger or "MAD Boom" for magnetic submarine detection.
