Lockheed Model 133 Starjet The Lockheed Model 133 was an avant-garde design brought forth in 1939, envisioned to become the inaugural jet fighter of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. The single-seat fighter boasted a groundbreaking design that combined a unique blended wing-body with an ahead-placing canard featuring hinged slotted flaps for superior lift. At its core, it was engineered to soar at 612 miles per hour in steady flight, reaching breathtaking speeds. Unfortunately, the USAAF rejected the 1942 proposal due to its ambitious design that surpassed conventional boundaries. Length: 48 feet 4 inches Wingspan: 46 feet 8 inches Wing Area: 325 square feet Powerplant: Dual Lockheed L-1000 axial-flow turbojets with individual outputs of 5100 pounds force each. Armament: 4 mounted cannons located within the nose, chambered for .79-inch shells. This model showcases an aesthetic akin to that of a 1941-era USAAF aircraft.
