This highly detailed model is built to exact scale specifications, boasting fully animateable features such as functioning turbines, retracting and extending landing gear, and opening/closing landing gear doors, rudder, elevators, ailerons, inboard and outboard flaps. Its exterior is richly textured with an abundance of fine details, making it perfect for use in animation, video production, or static scenes at airports. With its robust construction and precise accuracy, this model was rebuilt from the ground up to surpass our original 2005 3D design. It's also optimized for flight simulation programs. The Lockheed L-1011 is a versatile aircraft designed to bridge the gap between medium-haul airliners and massive heavy jet airliners, directly competing with the DC-10. Initially used extensively on continental routes throughout the western hemisphere, Europe, and Asia by numerous air carriers in the early 1970s, the L-1011 experienced significant challenges due to Rolls-Royce engine availability and recurring maintenance issues. Despite these setbacks, it boasted a superior safety record compared to its rival, the DC-10.
