This model is built to exact scale specifications, boasting fully animateable features such as functioning turbines, retractable landing gear, and operational rudder, elevators, ailerons, inboard and outboard flaps. Built from scratch using Max 2014 software, this updated model surpasses our original 2005 creation, providing an accurate representation of the Lockheed L-1011 aircraft. The Lockheed L-1011 was engineered to occupy the middle ground between medium-range airliners and massive heavy jet aircraft. It directly competed with the DC-10, dominating continental routes, the western hemisphere, Europe, and Asia through numerous air carriers from the early 1970s until its eventual decline. Despite struggling with Rolls-Royce engine availability and maintenance issues, the L-1011 boasted a superior safety record to its rival, the DC-10.
