This model is crafted to nearly exact scale. The model boasts an impressive array of animateable features, including functioning turbines, retracting and extending landing gear, opening and closing landing gear doors, rudder, elevators, ailerons, inboard and outboard flaps. It's fully textured and boasts an abundance of exterior detail. This model has undergone significant improvements and updates - nearly a complete rebuild - to ensure its accuracy is unmatched compared to our early 3D model created back in 2005. The L-1011 model was built with animation and video production in mind, making it an ideal choice for populating airport scenes as either an active or static subject. It can be easily downloaded in various formats using Max 2014, and even programmed to integrate seamlessly into flight simulation programs. The Lockheed L-1011 was designed to occupy the sweet spot between medium-haul airliners and massive heavy jet airliners. As such, it directly competed with the DC-10. Over its extensive career spanning several decades beginning in the early 1970s, the L-1011 was utilized by hundreds of air carriers on continental routes, throughout the western hemisphere, Europe, and Asia. However, the L-1011 struggled with RR engine availability and persistent maintenance issues. Despite this, it boasted a superior safety record compared to the DC-10.
