Lockable Container

Lockable Container

I recently crafted a Mechanical counter purely out of curiosity, so with the 'How it works' theme in mind this project delves into how a simple lock functions. Typically, a Mortise lock installed in a door features a latch that is opened by rotating the door handle and a Deadbolt that can be locked or unlocked using a key. For the purpose of this project, I have removed the latch and utilize just a single lever to engage the bolt. This setup has been fitted into the lid of a container so that you end up with a lockable container for securing small items. In the accompanying image, the Bolt is colored green and the Lever is red; when the key is inserted and turned, it initially lifts the lever from its locking interaction with the bolt and continues turning, then shifts the bolt to its locked position. The Cap can now be rotated 30° counterclockwise and pulled out of the container. http://www.3dprinterclocks.com
