This is the initial design of the box, which I'll continue to refine as needed. The latches were engineered to ensure uniform light distribution throughout the enclosure by maintaining a consistent wall density. However, this consideration wasn't crucial when printing with white plastic on a Makerbot, given its inherent characteristics. To determine optimal wall thickness, we calculated that at least three layers of material were required for the latch to be solid enough. Unfortunately, we encountered issues getting the Makerbot software to apply sufficient material for this component. Despite these challenges, it functions properly and may necessitate some adjustments. Future versions will incorporate a small gap between the lid's latch and the box, making it easier to insert a screwdriver or knife to reopen the enclosure.
