Lockable Ball & Socket Pivot Joint For Helping Hands

Experience the potential of MakerBot by creating more tools to aid in fabrication. An innovative pivot joint design, suitable for use with multiple pieces, is proposed for constructing a set of assistive hands to hold circuit boards and more. The small base may necessitate stability precautions. This lockable joint can be tightened or secured with a nut, offering versatility for pose-able armatures. However, the clamp grip model remains incomplete. Please share feedback on this first attempt at screw/bolt threading. An updated version of this component is featured in my helping hands design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2972). Currently untested, this STL file includes two parts; print multiples to examine connectivity. The SKP file is available for interested users.
