A recent trip to Lewis provided an opportunity to visit several shieling huts along and around Glen Bragar. These structures have their own distinct character, featuring double-skinned walls and twin doorways facing opposite directions. Many of them boast niches carved into their thick walls. This particular hut stood out with a raised dry seating platform against its southern wall - a convenient spot for my lunch break. I'm eager to return and explore the remaining dozen or so shieling huts in the area.
