Week 4 Challenge and Constraints This challenge from Ultimaker involved designing a tool for drawing or sketching while adhering to strict constraints, specifically "small" and "teenager," with an added twist inspired by Jeff Koons. The term "small" dictated that the tool be portable enough to fit in a bag, measuring approximately five inches in length. The parameter of "teenager" required the design to appeal to this age group's tastes. Classmates found the final product pleasing and humorous. The tool was modeled after Jeff Koons' Lobster sculpture with a few key modifications. The lobster arms were adjusted to form a 90-degree angle, enabling artists to achieve sharp corners when needed. Additionally, the claws can securely hold most pencils and similar-sized pens, providing a convenient holder for two frequently used drawing or sketching utensils.
