LM8UU-Style Bearing / Bushing Holder

LM8UU-Style Bearing / Bushing Holder

A printable version of an LM8UU holder used in the Anet A8 and A6 printer ranges as well as others. Each print of this will require 2 cable ties to hold the bearing firmly in place. Ideally, the holes on the back side should be drilled and tapped with an M4 thread for a secure fit. I plan to design a belt holder to complement this part for the A8 x-axis. However, if using this design on the y axis, you might find that your y endstop will no longer trigger due to the bearing passing straight past the endstop it normally hits. To address this issue, I intend to revise the design with a separate bearing model eventually. For now, spigandromeda took the initiative to create a part that raises the y endstop height to work around this problem. You can find this model in the comments or at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2536867 for your reference. The pictures showcase both sides of the holder after tapping the holes and fitting the cable ties, bearing/bushing, and screws. The images demonstrate a clear and precise fit. Print Settings: Printer: Anet A8 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.1 or 0.2 Infill: 40% Notes: When printing in PLA, I recommend using a fan speed of 15% for high-volume air blowers or 40-50% for low-volume air blowers. Post-Printing: 2 cable ties are required per printed piece. Tapping the four screw holes to M4 thread is highly recommended. While it may be possible to force a thread directly with the screw, I do not recommend this approach due to potential durability issues. It's best to tap the hole only up to the point where the bit is about level with the exit hole. How I Designed This: I measured the original parts and bearings to create a design in OpenSCAD. 13/01/2018 Added _nuts variant - changed to provide recesses to hold nuts. This involved widening screw holes and increasing the material above the nut position. Unless someone has printed this variant and confirmed it works, please consider this untested and print accordingly (for testing purposes). 24/07/2017 Uploaded a deeper variant with feature changes: 0.6mm extra distance between the screw mounting side and the centre of the bearing mounting position. 0.4mm Increase in the length of the recess to hold bearing. This should allow for a slightly looser fit requested recently. 10/04/2017 Uploaded an image of print after fitting bearing, cable ties, tapping holes, and inserting screws. 09/04/2017 Altered design to have holes through the part for easier tapping. Repositioned cable tie holes to not intersect with screw holes. Previous version would not work well with screws inserted more than 4mm into the part. 08/04/2017 Resized cable tie holes Resized bearing recess Changed cable tie holes to have a gap in the back of the part rather than a hole in the top to improve strength of the part.
