lm8uu linear bearing holder
thingiverse
LM8UU 3D Printed Holder. Made with efficiency and strength in mind, this design consumes a mere 7-8 grams of material while boasting toughness that's hard to match. It features four strategically placed holes for M4 hex cap screws, making it easy to connect other printer modules directly to the holder. Additionally, a subtle "lip" around its exterior ensures the linear bearing remains securely in place. Internal measurements indicate a diameter 1/15th of a millimeter tighter than the LM8UU bearing itself, preventing any movement or shifting when inserted correctly. The holder comes in two variants: one without holes and another with four M4 holes for attachment. For users who wish to tweak the design further, accompanying SketchUp files (in SKP format) are provided. Recommended Print Settings: - Rafting is essential. - Supports are unnecessary. - A 0.2 mm resolution ensures crisp details. - Infill levels range from 50% to 100%. Important Printing Notes: With success achieved in PLA at a 0.2 mm layer height and 100% infill, we advise using moderate print speeds (like 40mm/s) for optimal results. However, keep in mind that some printers might require an added fan for cooling during prolonged prints. In such cases, printing multiple holders simultaneously can be helpful. Once you've completed the print, carefully place M4 hex cap screws into their respective holes and then gently insert the LM8UU linear bearing onto its new holder, ensuring a snug fit every time.
