When constructing my Prusa i3, made from 6mm plywood, I noticed that the Y-carriage, equipped with LM8UU bearings secured by zip ties, collided with and was elevated slightly over the y motor at its furthest point. This minor issue, less than a millimeter, needed fixing. The Y carriage design features holes 20mm apart for zip tie placement and a slot to maintain proper bearing alignment. However, other LM8UU bushings have more spaced holes than intended for the zip ties. To rectify this, I moved the hole position closer together, ensuring a tight fit without being impossible even with the bearing already affixed. This modification provided an additional couple of millimeters clearance, preventing future motor collisions.
