LM6UU and LM8UU Linear bearing clip/holders
thingiverse
Jolijar has designed upgraded LM8UU holder versions at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7755. Inspired by this, I'm creating a 3D Huxley model based on the frame, opting for solid linear bearings. On an auction site, I found a seller offering LM6UU and LM8UU at £2.75 for two, so I bought 10 of each for X and Y axis use. To hold these in place before epoxying onto my build plate, I designed clips using Sketch-Up (though parametric features aren't my strong suit). The LM6UU specs are 6mm ID, 12mm OD, and 19mm length, while the LM8UU has 8mm ID, 15mm OD, and 24mm length. To use these mounts and clips, simply print them and fit them into bearings before construction. Cleaning the hole might be necessary, but mine were fine as is. Epoxy the plastic to the build platform and clip or push it over the bearings attached to rods. The fit is tight, preventing the bearing from slipping out. This results in smooth, quiet, and low-friction movement!
