LM317 Regulator Mount for WT-LC Case (with STP file)
thingiverse
This is a LM317 case which mounts in my WT-LC (Re-ARM + RAMPS 1.6 case). This case is still being tested and I will update it once I have it printed. I am using this to give some extra juice to a 3D Touch probe, which won't work reliably off the built-in 5V supply. I plan to connect it to the 12V printer supply and adjust it down to 5V for the probe. It was designed for these products: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G59J3TL/ Not sure if this product is worth buying, though two of the five LM317 boards were DOA, and the design sucks in that there's an input capacitor near where a screw would go to mount the board. I made a small knock-out in the cover on this design to cover the cap, but it's not ideal - so don't over-tighten the screws, or it may be worth not even using a screw on that side (may update the design to use a peg there - now updated but untested). Also, adjusting the trimpot from 12V in to 5V out meant it was easier to adjust it to around 600Ohms before connecting it up. Clockwise on the trimpot will lower the output voltage, but note that if it's set too low from the factory, it may not come on and appear dead. The trimmer should be around 25 turns (based on a Bourns 103 datasheet) but it seemed like more than that for the trim pots they're using. The WT-LC 80mm Fan Latching Case for Re-ARM + RAMPS 1.6 can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3052975 I attached a picture showing how I'm printing this, using tree supports. I hope that this orientation will work better and make the mounting hole peg strong enough not to crack. Update: printed the current model and it works, however the hole for the trimpot adjustment is too low. Fixing that is a low priority right now, but when I get around to it, I'll update the model. There are also some extensions for the case that are needed to give this case some more room between the regulator and the case fan (they help to keep this case from touching the fan). The case extensions can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3649684 I added one of the extensions to the things here as well (there are other versions at the link above however).
