LM12UU based version of MaduixaCNC
thingiverse
I took the original MaduixaCNC model, making several key modifications to make it work with 12mm steel rods instead of the standard 8mm rods. I also swapped out the linear bearings from 8mm to LM12UU bearings for improved performance. To further enhance the build, I combined y-carriage-cnc and y-triangle-CNC into a single part called y-carriage-cnc_short+X support_left and _right. This strengthened the connection between them, and I plan to expand the Y direction in the future for even greater stability. Another crucial change was adding a small dip in the X carriage to accommodate the NEMA17 motor, which I couldn't mount due to screw positioning constraints. To allow for more accurate placement, I created a version of the x-corner-CNC-AB with straight mounting feet. Additionally, I extended the Z-carriage to fit two LM12UU bearings. The following parts were taken directly from the original model: * 2sides-corner-CNC * 3sides-corner-CNC * bed-holder-CNC * universal-holder-CNC * x-drive-train-CNC * x-end-idler-CNC I also designed and added my own Dremel holder for a generic dremel-like machine with a round diameter of 47mm, as well as a pen holder for drawing. After making these modifications, the build works perfectly! However, I'm experiencing some issues with amp draw and power supply, which I'll address soon. The solid build has been tested on MDF stock so far, and I plan to conduct more testing after replacing the power supply. I've also discovered that I can run G-Code from a Raspberry PI using Repetier-Server, giving me webcam interface capabilities when I'm not present. My best result so far is the title picture, achieved with two passes (rough + fine), and I'm very happy with the outcome, despite some minor issues due to power supply problems. Update 25-July-2016: I created updated versions of X-drivetrain, Y-carriage, and Z-carriage for higher stiffness levels. These new parts have greatly reduced flexing between X and Y axes as well as play in the X axis motion. The new parts are marked with _V2 at the end. Update 27-August-2016: I designed a Nema 23 version of y-end-motor, y-end-idler, and x-end-idler parts. These were created based on theoretical sizes, so please confirm they fit when someone tries them. Remember to use the correct idler with different motor sizes for the middle hole to align. Update 9-SEP-2016: I added a Nema23 y-carriage STL with both sides in one STL. Update 11-SEP-2016: I split the y-carriage into Left and Right parts. I also fixed the normals on the Right part. Update 16-SEP-2016: Thanks to @MAXANJLI, I fixed a mistake in the Y carriages for Nema23. Update 9-OCT-2016: I added a spindle mount for 52mm Spindle, which works but can be improved. Update 3-Dec-2016: A lot has changed since the previous version. I replaced the standoffs with a full plate on top of the frame, which contributed significantly to the rigidity of the frame. I'm still working on getting a clamping method that works well with this setup, currently using screws but waiting for a T type end mill to make grooves in my build plate. As for the spindle mount, PLA is not suitable due to warping when the spindle heats up. I changed it to wood + aluminum bracket.
