LM10UU Bearing Press

LM10UU Bearing Press

A simple way to remove the LM10UU bearings from a 3018-PRO CNC nylon Y axis slides and the X/Z spindle carriage - without damaging the bearings. You'll need to print both parts of the press (and in some cases an extra copy of Part A). You'll also need access to a robust hand clamp and/or a rubber mallet (or plastic dead-blow hammer). Part A features a 10mm diameter post that centers the press tooling within the LM10UU bearing. The outer diameter of Part A is just shy of the actual bearing width and will rest nicely on the outer bearing race. Part B is simple cup, to receive a single LM10UU bearing, as it is pressed out of whatever housing it is in. In the case where multiple bearings must be pressed out from within a housing (i.e. the X/Z Carriage), print and stack two part A's to extend the tool's reach within the housing. Use with a hand clamp as illustrated to gently press the friction fit LM10UU bearings out of wherever they reside. Note that sometimes these bearings are retained within the housing using CA glue or thread locking compound, in this case you may need to use a good bit of force or break the glue free. Some hand clamps are pretty weak, in this case a sharp swift blow from a mallet may be necessary to break the bearing free of the adhesive bond.
