To create a functional lamp from a Luxo Jr model, I replaced its AC to DC transformer with a 9V DC converter from SparkFun. I stretched the base of the converter to fit and added structures at the bottom for prevention of shrinkage or warping. A RadioShack switch was installed on the base to control AC power. The lamp, scaled up by 30%, used an Adafruit LED and concealed high wattage resistors inside its top.
