Lizard Screw Stand-off
thingiverse
My new storm door came with extremely cheezy clips meant to hold the glass and screen panels of the door in place. The clips were already starting to deform and would not have taken much force to break. So I made my own and used them to hold aluminum Z-channel in place that in turn holds the panels in place much more securely. The door has a Southwestern design of a lizard (or is it a gecko?) on it, so I made the clips resemble that design. The original clips held the screws out at a distance from the door frame, and I needed to mimic that so the original screws would hold tight. Because nothing is easy, however, every screw was a different distance away from the panel, so I used OpenScad to place the screw standoff part in a different location along the lizard's middle for each screw. I've included an STL of a 'basic' version, but if your situation is like mine, you are going to want to adjust the values in the .scad file and export a new STL for each screw. The liz.svg file is imported into the .scad design, so be sure to download that as well. Note that the design is *not* parametric, so if you change the size of the lizard or anything, you will need to adjust all other parts as well.
