I'm still trying to get over being an idiot when I created a replacement knob for my bathroom heater that just broke. Thanks to a 3D printer, the ordinary rules no longer applied. A quick search online led me to a model I liked, and with a few simple tweaks - like adding a cutout for a 1/4 inch D shaft - it was ready to print. My wife is completely thrilled with how it turned out, which made it all worth it. Consider this just the tip of the iceberg, though - with some creative thinking, this concept could be used as a starting point for printing countless other 3D models.
