Livoo Rotating Food Dehydrator as Filament Dryer

Reason: At humid days/weeks, my prints were showing quality issues especially when using PETG. The moist makes the extrusion irregular. Food Dehydrator: Knowing of the many projects online where food dehydrators are changed into filament dryers, I bought myself a very cheap one at a thrift store. It is a ROTATING food dehydrator, one where the whole stack of trays turn, while the heath source is in one specific place at the bottom. It was cheap for a reason, as it did have a problem with the rotating part between the motor and the stack of trays. But owning a 3D printer who cares, right? I designed and printed a replacement (included in the download), as shown in the photographs making it functional again. Filament Dryer: To make it a filament dryer, the trays were treated the same as all similar projects online do: change the trays into rings only. Having the heath source at one place, we still need the rotating functionality to rotate the filament. Use one of the cut outs to put the spool of filament on. I designed a spool stand (included in the download), matching the tray cut out in the middle which fits best when it used with a smaller version of the rotating part mentioned earlier. (included in the download) Result I only dry the filament when I notice humidity realted problems and it always solves my problems. It makes a great Filament Dryer. As in most low cost devices, the temperature scale at the regulator button is to be checked/calibrated. I use a simple temperature/hydrometer, to monitor the temperature and dehydration process.
